Magazine - Idea generation

NOTES

I started to search for some designers that could be used as part of the content for the magazine with the intention of ensuring that they were creating outcomes that were influential within society or in response to social/current issues. I used a variety of online sources such as:
- Itsnicethat
- Intern
- Design Weekly
- Dazed
- Creative Review
- Computer Arts
- EYE Magazine
- Medium
- DSGN Blog
- Shillington
- Digital Arts
- Adobe Create

Some ideas on how to remove the designers identity as a focus:
- Ikea style serial numbers
- Sticker on page with number which would keep the design style minimal and easy for the reader to follow
- Named after the title of the project

NAMES
The name generation was an important part of the process as it would most likely drive the content, design style and also layouts used for the magazine. Relevant words were taken and then the thesaurus and dictionary were used to find every other word relevant to the starting words. I took some of the most interesting and relevant words and researched the meaning of them a little deeper than those on the mind maps.
The word rebuttal is an 'instance of rebutting evidence or an accusation', a denial, refutation, counter-argument or contradiction. This in some ways seems appropriate for the content of the magazine, but also the idea of it going against an issue is not the intention, it should be more of an opinion in regards to it or need to make it more evident within society.
Proactive was another word that would work well as a title because it is about 'taking action by causing change and not only reacting to change when it happens'. It would how that the designers are being proactive about issues rather than waiting for them to become bigger issues or equally just disappear within society.
This search then lead to the question of 'how do I stop reacting and start responding?' which is exactly what the purpose of the content will be, it will be designers who have considered the issue and rather than instantly reacting to it, they have thought about it more and the ways in which design could be used to respond to the issue and best communicate it.
Responding became the word that would be used for the title of the magazine.
